Debt deal won't stop our slide into spending oblivion from Kevin Leininger

Kevin Leininger pretty much nailed it in his opinion column in tonight's News-Sentinel that "the government has already turned 66% of us into wards of the state."

"America's debt shot up another $238 billion to about $14.58 trillion, meaning the nation now owes more than its entire economy produces in an entire year."

"When the communists in Russia and China are lecturing Americans about how they're screwing up capitalism and endangering the world economy, and they are, that should tell you something."

"According to the federal Office of Management and Budget, about 66.1 percent of federal spending went to individuals in 2010, the highest level in history (although it is surely even higher today)."

"But when individuals are able and even encouraged to vote in ways that turn the federal government into nothing more than a mechanism to transfer wealth from one person to another, personal needs will trump the national good every time."

And most importantly...
"Sooner or later, society's creators will simply refuse to be exploited and stop creating jobs, wealth, progress, everything. When that happens, the poor will suffer most of all."
